Remotely adjustable hearing aids. Which brands can do that?

Almost every brand of hearing aid has the option to make an adjustment or adjustment remotely. With one hearing aid, the possibilities to set or adjust remotely are more extensive than with the other brand of hearing aid.

Here’s an overview:

Widex – Full adjustment possible by means of a neckloop and an app, even a hearing test possible.

Feedback test is possible.

 

Signia – Full adjustment possible by means of an app (also on a PC) hearing test limited.


Starkey – A first visit with a hearing care professional is required (unless you have an audiogram), then at distance can be adjusted by means of an app.


Oticon – A first visit to the hearing care professional is required (unless you have an audiogram). You can request fine-tuning in an app.


Resound – Full adjustment possible, even a hearing test possible.

Feedback test is possible.


Phonak – Full adaptation possible, even a hearing test possible.

Feedback test is possible.


Unitron – Not yet available but will be available later this year.

Feedback test is possible.

What are the benefits of remotely fitting a hearing aid

-  No or one-time visit to the hearing care professional.
-  No physical contact with other people.
-  No travel time.
-  Quick adjustment or adjustment can be made.
-  Guaranteed the latest technology.
-  Same quality as when visiting a hearing care professional.

Disadvantages of remote adjustment

-  In most cases a smartphone, tablet is required.
-  Some brands require an initial adjustment by the hearing care professional.
-  Physical or visual impairment may cause some discomfort.
