All about speakers

A speaker, also called a receiver, ensures that sound is conducted from your hearing aid to your ear. This indispensable part of a hearing aid often consists of a small silver, blue or red rod on which the dome (a rubber cap) is placed.

Occasionally, moisture or earwax can get into the speaker or the wire, causing your hearing aid to stop working. Try our cleaning and maintenance tips before buying new parts or sending your hearing aid in for repair.

What speaker do I need?

If your hearing aid stops working, your speaker may need to be replaced. If you are not sure which one you need, look up your hearing aid’s brand on your quotation and then follow the instructions below to select the right speaker.

Check your current speaker

If you already have a hearing aid with a speaker that you are happy with, you can check which type you have after removing the dome (rubber cap) from the end of the speaker. After removing the dome, in most cases, you will see a letter and a number, for example, M1 or P3 (wipe away any dirt to make sure you can read them). These indicate the speaker’s power level and the length of the wire.

You can find an overview of all speakers on our webshop. Look up your hearing aid’s brand and then select the wire length and power level. Remember to order a left and a right speaker!

I cannot determine what speaker I need

Perhaps you have lost your current speaker, cannot read the marking on the speaker, or are dissatisfied with the length of the wire. In that case, first, choose your brand in our hearing aid overview on this page. In this overview, we explain how to choose a receiver that fits your hearing aid and ear for each brand.
