I think my hearing aid is defective, what now?
If your hearing aid is defective, we can repair it for you. If you purchased the hearing aid from us, it may still be under warranty . Before you send the hearing aid to us for repair, we recommend that you first go through the checklist below to find out whether the hearing aid is defective. It often happens that there is something else wrong that can be easily solved, such as replacing the filter or the speaker.
General Problems Checklist
First check the following. If you still can't hear properly, visit our page: How does the repair process work ?
- There may be a plug (earwax) in the ear, usually the hearing aid will then give feedback (a beeping sound).
- Check the battery with a battery tester. If necessary, replace the battery .
- If you have a rechargeable hearing aid, check the contacts of the hearing aids and the charger. Clean these with special cleaning wipes .
- Check if the dome is clogged. Cleaning the dome every evening with a damp cloth prevents clogging. If necessary, replace the dome .
- Replace the filter. See here how to replace the filter .
- Check that the earpiece is not clogged. If necessary, clean the earpiece with the cleaning kit. Make sure that you blow the tube and earpiece dry with a blower. One drop of water can completely block the tube.
- If you have an earmold; also check the tube for small tears or kinks. Putting the tube in and out can cause it to wear out. Replace the tube if it has kinks.
- Clean the tube. Disconnect it from the hearing aid and insert the supplied black wire through the tube. Replace the tube if necessary.
- With in-the-ear hearing aids, it is important to always keep the microphone opening clean and open for good sound quality. You can use a soft brush for this. By lightly stroking the opening(s), you can easily remove dirt from the microphone.
The batteries in my hearing aid are running out much faster than I'm used to
The batteries of Online-HearingAids last 5 to 14 days, depending on the type and settings of the hearing aid. In order not to use any power at night, we recommend opening the battery drawer every night. This allows the hearing aid to dry properly. Drying a hearing aid works even better in a drying box. This prevents the hearing aid from becoming defective due to moisture.
My hearing aids are crackling
Sometimes moisture can get into the hearing aid through cleaning or perspiration. This can then make a cracking sound. Therefore, make sure that the hearing aids can dry properly.
A specially designed Drybox dries your hearing aids from the inside and the built-in UV lamp kills 99% of bacteria, making the devices hygienically clean and reducing the risk of infections.
